Who we are

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string, to help detect spam.

An anonymous string generated from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to our service to see if you are using it. After your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly available in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to a website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you can enable cookies to store your name, email address and website. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to enter your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies are stored for one year.

If you have an account and log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set several cookies to store your login information and screen display options. Login cookies last for two days and screen options cookies last for a year. If you choose "Remember me", your login will be saved for two weeks. If you log out of your account, your login cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal information and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires in 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and track your interactions with this embedded content, including tracking your interactions with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into this website.

How long do we keep your data

If you leave a comment, it and its metadata will remain indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

What are your rights to your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of your personal data that we hold, including any data you provide to us. You can also request the deletion of any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are required to store for administrative, legal or security purposes.
